In majority of the countries across the globe including India, the maximum amount of energy we consume in our households through the grid is derived from burning of coals, lignite, diesel or using gas. All of these are non-renewable energy sources and could be exhausted with overuse. Moreover, they also release green house gas during power production. When we use solar energy, we generate electricity directly from sunlight without burning anything. So solar users helps to reduce the needs of energy dervierd from the burning of fossil fuels and this avoid adding more Green House Gases into the enviornment.

When you opt for a on-grid rooftop solar, your conventional meter is changed with a net-meter. These net-meters allow the transfer of surplus solar power generated from your rooftop solar to the grid. It also allows usage of grid electricity when your household power demand is more than solar power generation. These net meters allows the discoms to finally calculate the net use of grid power or solar power and furnish the monthly power bills acccordingly.

Yes. You can connect your existing electrical appliances with solar system without any issue. That is why inverters are mandatory part of solar systems. It is because solar panels usually make DC power and household connections use AC power. So these inverter convert the DC power from solar and injects AC power into your hosehold electricity which allows you to use solar power the same way how you use the grid power.

In case there is no meter load enchancement need, the whole process usually takes 30-60 days in most states. In states like Gujarat the whole process often gets done within one month. In case a person wants to increase the sanctioned capacity, this process alone takes one extra month besides normal rooftop solar installation time. But the meter load enchacement request is often made before applying for rooftop solar.

One way to access your demand is to find out the average consumption of your household in a year. This could be done by adding all the units your consumed monthly and dividing the final amount with 12. This will give uyour averrage annualy consumption. You have to compare the average monthly productionn of 1 KW of a solar panel and find out how much capacitty you may require to fulfil your monthly power units with solar. Solar installers typically assess energy consumption patterns and available roof space to recommend an appropriate system size. Factors such as budget and future energy needs also play a role in determining the system size.
