Consumers who want to apply for the connections under the scheme can apply through the National Rooftop Solar Portal also called PM Surya Ghar Portal. Here the consumers need to make an online account with their mobile number and OTP, fill the form and submit their applications. Application is free of cost. After the application, the local power distribution company takes up the Feaibility Report and after that the consumer cabn choose their vendors who can install the project. Consumers also need to fill their bank account details and the government gives subsidies after the commissiong of the project. The subsidies comes after around 30days-45 days. Consumers can also track the status of their project and disbursement of the subsidies with this portal.

There is a subsidy of Rs 30,000 for the first two Kilowatt, and then, 18,000 for the third Kilowatt of installtion, capping total subsidy to a maximum of RS 78,000. ALMM stands for the Approved List of Module Manufacturers. It is a list released by India’s Ministry of New And Renewable Energy (MNRE), and lists all the manufacturers whose modules are approved for use in solar projects in India.
Following a recent notification on March 27, the MNRE has made it clear that only ALMM approved modules can be used in all government backed projects, and even projects in Open Access and Rooftop solar. That means you could potentially use foreign modules (after paying a 40% customs/import duty), only in off grid solar projects that are not subsidised in any way, if at all.
