As per consumers’ feedback, sometimes solar vendors delay the installation of the project due to lack of manpower or availability of raw materials while several times discoms delay the process in inspection of the rooftop system post installation, installation of net-meters, testing of meters and final commissioning of the project. However, several state electricity regulators are now issuing directives to streamline the process.

    A PCS, or Power Conversion System, is often mistaken for a regular solar inverter, but in reality, it does much more. A standard solar inverter mainly converts the DC electricity generated by solar panels into AC power that can be used in homes, factories or supplied to the grid. A PCS, however, becomes important when batteries are added into the system. It not only converts power, but also intelligently manages the flow of electricity between solar panels, batteries and the grid.

    What makes a PCS different is its ability to handle power in both directions. It can charge batteries when excess solar power is available and later discharge that stored electricity back to the grid or consumers when demand rises. In many ways, it acts like the brain of a battery storage system. Beyond simple power conversion, modern PCS systems also help stabilise the grid, manage peak demand, support voltage and frequency control, and improve the integration of renewable energy. As battery storage and hybrid renewable projects grow rapidly in India, PCS technology is becoming a key part of how solar power is being made more reliable and grid-friendly.

    Typically in Indian conditions, you can expect panels equivalent to 1kW  to generate between 4-5 units per day on average, when taken for the full year.     Typically in Indian conditions, you can expect panels equivalent to 1kW  to generate between 4-5 units per day on average, when taken for the full year. There are periods when generation will be much higher, like the February to June period. Similarly, in North India, generation during November to January end would be much lower due to pollution, shorter days. In the early summer phase and summers, with clear skies, for every  kW capacity, you can get over 5, even 6 units in a day.

    To answer your question then, if you go with the new mono panels available today, they would typically be in the 540 Watt range, You would thus need about 6 of those to be sure of getting 350 units per month on average, or 4200 units annually. Bifacial panels will deliver even higher output, at a higher initial cost of course.
